This week we started off by planning the story line using cards. We wrote down different parts of the story from Act 1 to Act 3 and moved different key areas around to make it make more sense.

We knew we wanted our main character to be an assassin and for him to sneak into a masquerade ball, the rest was to plan out the story with the villain, ordinary world and the return with the elixr.

Here we decided Markus should have a mentor of somekind and decided on his Uncle raising him after his parents tragic death.

We also decided on a villain: Lady Ophelia.

Lady Ophelia is a high ranking politician who is very careful with her image to the public, she is the one behind Markus's parents death many years ago.

Initially I wanted to have Lady Ophelia as the final boss villain with the player believing it is someone else - one of her lackeys who held the ball. When Markus gets angry at the lackey's statement of rising to power without his famiily (he hears his surname) he rushes into attack - alerting all guards and causing a commotion.

At the climating point, markus is outnumbered and overpowered with all the guards surrounding him, his Uncle comes and blocks the blow and his last wish is for Markus to flee the scene. While Markus is in shock holding his uncles body, he stares absent mindedly towards the villains and at the top of the balcony he sees a woman wearing the necklace of his mother - revealling Lady Ophelia to be the villain and pulling the strings.

At this point Markus leaves his uncle behind and flees the mansion, vowing to return and exact his revenge on his family. He would gain magic powers (method unknown - perhaps his emotions unlock it for him?) and come to face off Lady Ophelia at an auction house.

At this point of planning the story our act 2 and 3 were fully fleshed out - with the introductory act 1 lacking cards and a story. Our story also did not fit well with the hero's journey archetype and we went back to brainstorming.

After the workshop I added all the cards onto miro so our team can continue organising and fleshing out the story from home.
