This week we recroded voices for the charcters during the cutscene. I voiced the attendant
I also decided on a date for the demo session to show our cutscene.
Once the voicelines were recorded, they needed to be edited (as the sounds were very fuzzy and quiet), our sound deisgner edited them as requested and I began implementing them into the cutscene.
As preperation for the cutscne blockout I created a draft cutscene blockout with images showing the position and direction each character would face, camera pans and cut's made.
This helped greatly in making the cutscene, and from previous experience of making one for a personal project I started by adding the camera cuts first then adding the voicelines and timing them correctly.
I split the cutscene into 3 sections:
Study Cutscene 1: Markus entering study, looking around, hiding + eavesdropping
Shed Cutscene: Markus's flashback, watching house burn down
Study Cutscne 2: Markus coming back from flashback and knocking down book, narrowly avoiding getting caught
I duplicated the study cutscene twice as we'd need two seperate scenes.
The camera positions were very easy to adjust thanks to Cinemachine - they could cut into the next shot, pan across two or blend two cameras together in one seamless shot - which was incredibly useful.
With the camera angles set up it was time to add in the voicelines, these were spaced depending on which character would be in shot. Finally it was time to add in the characters.
Unfortuately the charcter models did not uplaod correctly before I left the house and the only model avaliable was an old version of young Markus's head by itself. I used this as a rather mortifying placeholder for the time being to get the camera positions set up correctly.
