This week we pitched the cutscene blockout and recieved feedback on it. As of now all textures from charcters are missing and there are some issues with camera transitions in the last cutscene.
Some more points for improvement were to add a plant pot where Markus is hiding, as right now it is quite obvious that he is between the bookshelves and doesn't make sense for Ophelia and Fred NOT to see him.
The flashback scene is quite quiet apart from the fire sparks - a crying/sobbing sound should be added to drive the trauma home. Markus also looks very blank faced and not like hes in shock or crying - add some fear into his face.
One issue with the models were the export. I had used mixamo to rig the charcaters and exported the whole model into one to be able to use the shapekeys - when this reaches Unity however the shapekeys can't be adjusted easily or animatied and so I went back to blender to redo the models.
This time there was a process I followed:
Model the character
Merge the different character pieces together into ONE MESH
Rig the character using mixamo
THEN add the shapekeys of different facial animations
Add a DRIVER to the shape keys in the armature
Animate model for close up shots where facial expressions are present
Export the model to Unity
For parts where the face doesn't need facial animation but needs animation on the body in a far away shot - I exported the merged model and imported to mixamo and used their aniamtions as usual.
Having two seperate models for close-ups and far away shots simplified the cutscene process.

With the new models and animtions I replaced the old Markus with the new ones - which was fairly simple since there was the old model in the same place.
I then added in a new sound effect of a boy crying into the cutscene and timed it when Markus falls.
